Dmitry is an Associate in Pinna Goldberg’s office in the UAE. He advises on complex cross-border disputes involving sovereign states and multinational corporations. His practice focuses on investment treaty arbitration, financial and banking litigation, sanctions-related proceedings, and matters involving social media platforms.

Dmitry has substantial experience representing states and corporate clients in high-value international arbitration and multi-jurisdictional litigation.  He has advised clients across a range of industries including banking, construction, technology, and chemicals.

His work often involves issues of sanctions, insolvency, fraud and financial misconduct across borders. He regularly contributes to the development of legal strategy and argumentation in complex proceedings.

Dmitry’s representative matters include:

  • Acting for the Republic of Belarus in investment treaty proceedings brought under the ICSID and ICSID Additional Facility Rules by: (i) Grand Express, relating to the insolvency of a railcar manufacturing plant; (ii) Delta Belarus Holding BV, concerning the revocation of a banking licence; and (iii) Pavilniu saules slenis 14 and Modus grupe, involving a real estate project in the Minsk airport area;
  • Representing the Russian Federation in a multi-billion dollar investment treaty claim initiated by Sergei Pugachev under the UNCITRAL Rules and in related annulment proceedings before the Spanish courts;
  • Acting for a contractor in SCC arbitration against a Central Asian state and state-owned entity in relation to the construction of a fertiliser plant under a US$1 billion contract;
  • Representing a major corporate group in a series of complex court and arbitration proceedings concerning unilateral restrictive measures (sanctions) imposed by the European Union and other jurisdictions;
  • Acting for a private company and a major German bank in a range of litigations across Liechtenstein, Cyprus, and Russia arising from the insolvency of Probusinessbank and the misappropriation of its assets;
  • Acting for a group of manufacturing companies in an ICAC arbitration and related Russian court proceedings in a dispute with a major car manufacturer regarding the refusal to supply automotive components;
  • Advising a UAE-based conglomerate on potential treaty claims against Lebanon in connection with the banking deposit freeze imposed by Lebanese authorities.
